I feel like if it's black, keep the neon, if it's dark gray, maybe mute the colors just a touch. But not much. I really like the design though! Very nice!
have you tried it with the design flipped around? also you can see little bits of the green blue and pink guitar behind the others, that bothers me, i wonder how it would look with strings.. white or silver ones
I think you should distress each guitar individually. Right now that layer is on top of all the guitars, and adds a continuity that shouldn't be there.
The idea is good, that I only feel that the guitars as they are placed causes that the image is heavy, perhaps if you tried to smooth the image with a clear color for the t-shirt or changing the direction of the guitars in diagonal
Thanks to everyone for the critiques, I think this is looking much better with different guitars. I skipped the distress on this version because I thought it looked better without.
I like them right up side better too. But I feel like something is missing - maybe try the distressing again, as suggested above. Or maybe strings in the shirt color to break it up a little? What's the intention? Is it about guitar power? Do you want a shirt that's more rocker or more abc? I could totally see a little kid wearing this as is and it being really cute, but as an adult shirt, I need something more to bring it beyond a nice solid graphic and into a "wow, I really want to wear this" shirt. I mean, the colors are strong, the image is strong - I would just play with it a bit more...
yeah, I agree with jees, I liked them better with distress -- you might also consider alternating the guitars, two up, two down. Though personally I'm fine with them being either all up or all down -- just figured it might be another option.
gfuse: pride shirt maybe? Not that it necessarily has to be -- he may just like neon rainbows, I'm just sayin'...
I just think it needs a something to make the design a bit more interesting. I would try isacc's suggestion and play around with alternating the guitars being up and down. Maybe even one up and down and three on the sides or something like that.
With this version I added the distress again to each guitar, and added the cables spelling "Rock Hard". I think this adds to the design and gives it more meaning, what do you think?
I actually think this is an example of where the text adds to the design rather than detracting from it. It does give it more meaning, and works well with the textures on the guitars. Did you try it other way around, so that the cables are at the bottom? Seems more of a natural positioning to me, as though they're lying on the ground.
Thanks to everyone for their comments! I decided (after pretty much flipping a coin) that I would take out the text. I think this is a stronger piece as a straight graphic, so let me know what you think.
I overlapped the guitars more and I think this is getting really close. Thanks in advance for your comments!
I think that maybe you should swap out one of the the three guitars on the left and replace it with a style of guitar that is a bit more distinct like the one on the far right so it looks like there is more variety when first glancing at the shirt...if that makes sense?haha
