I have a little website and a lot of the content is music based. At the end of the year, labels and publicists begin sending a bunch of "For Your Consideration" style emails, asking you to look over certain releases from the year and to consider adding them to your end of the year lists. Personally, I don't really like the lists because they seem to be set up the same way everytime and, since I don't believe that anyone really heard every single album that came out during the year or had time to devote to each of them equally, it always seems like farce to rate them with some sort of number system.
One purpose for them that I do find is that it can introduce people to stuff they may not have heard before. I've basically refused to make one for the site, but I've also noticed that I still like discussing them, because my ideals are a sham. I'm not gonna number or rate anything, but here are some of the albums that got the most listens from me this year, that were released this year. Along with the album artist/title, I'm gonna try to include a video of a track from the release. I was hoping that some of you might be interested in posting your favorites, as well. Even if they didn't come out this year, but you discovered it this year. Hopefully, there will be some cool stuff to discover. I just came on here to upload a photo of my baby wearing an ICEBERG onesie. It's the first threadless item that he's been able to wear. He'll be 3 months on the 7th and, up until now, everything's been too large for him. However, I see that things are a little different and the photo hasn't "cleared" yet or.. whatever. I don't know. It's exciting for me though, considering that I posted the first one of myself on here about 6 years ago.
Anyway, I consistently host a lot of contests/giveaways on my site, but they are usually specific to Seattle, because they are usually concert tickets etc. Since I'm on here, I thought that I'd give the people on Threadless a heads up that I'm giving away 2 copies of PORTLANDIA season one in the Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack format. That means that I'll have 2 to give away so 2 different people will get one. CLICK HERE to enterIt's always nice to see this site continue to thrive. I'm always too damn busy to spend much time on here, but I still think someday that I will submit a design. I'm trying to figure out a way to make it reflect something individual to each viewer, like a shirt with a raccoon eating each person's specific family members that only they can see.
Gallery 1988 is an amazing pop-culture themed gallery in Los Angeles (technically, there are 2 locations now: Melrose and Venice). You might have seen the video of Olly Moss' solo show there in May. They hold a lot of group exhibits too, many of them featuring pieces by Mike Mitchell.
I've posted a few previews for shows that they were hosting in the past and recently received some sample images for their latest group exhibit, which is a tribute to the David Wain/Michael Showalter film, "Wet Hot American Summer" to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of the movie. As I was posting them, I realized that one of the pieces contributed was from Threadless artist, Justin White (aka: Jublin). Sorry if it's already been posted but, I wanted to put something up about it on here, just in case. If you're in the Los Angeles area, the opening for the show is tonight and will be hosted by director/co-writer, David Wain, himself. Here's Jublin's piece: ![]() Here's the trailer to the film, for anyone that's never seen it: and... Here is a link for anyone that wants to see more info/images for the event, HERE. about Duck in Training
So... I cashed in some points and picked up some onesies last night. My boy will like ducks
I've found myself bouncing around aimlessly and killing time on flickr so many times before, just looking at the pictures of strangers and the strangers that took them. I thought it would be cool to see some that people on here have taken.
I do a lot of concert photography, so here's an image of Baby Dee drinking a big ass glass of scotch at the Triple Door in Seattle last year ![]() Share one of your favorites ![]() I'm hosting a giveaway for a pair of tickets to any West Coast WEEN show date in January. As you might know, 3 of the shows are sold out and the rest of the available seats aren't very good. In fact, the Portland Crystal Ballroom show tix sold-out in the pre-order almost immediately and people started flipping them on ebay for ridiculous prices (hundreds of dollars). I contacted WEEN's management when the tickets first went on sale and arranged to do hold a contest to give a pair of tickets away to a show of the winners choice. If you're interested in entering, you can link through WEEN.com's front page, but that's just gonna take you to my site HERE and, if you link through there, it's just gonna take you to the Facebook entry page HERE To enter you just need to comment on the page by completing the following statement: "If I could cover anything with gas and set it on fire ___ " Entries must be received by 11:59pm on Thursday Jan. 20th Then we'll just pick the one we like the best and put you on the list. So far.. nothing's been too overly impressive, so I thought I'd post it up here for anyone that wants to take a stab and coming up with something a little more inspired. thanks!

What were your favorite albums?
What were your favorite prints? What were your favorite anythings? I'm rarely ever on here anymore, but am always interested in everyone's opinions and in finding new things to check out. If anything particular stood out to you this year or became a new obsession for you, I'd like to hear about it. |
