is it still wrong to say that i have a tee at teefury today ?
...for only 5 more hours?
a tee that a lot of people liked here but didn't win?

it's probably sacrilege to say that here, especially on new threadless tee day.

is it? if so, lemme know and i'll delete this asap.

if not, go check out the tee of the day! 5 more hours!!!!

it's not going to be on a gray this dark, btw.

i don't follow the little goon, but you can't help NOT read something about him online now.

what are your opinions of:
-his douchy hair
-his tiny baby-like teeth
-his already inflated self image
-the timetable/countdown to his breakdown/implosion

that said, i haven't heard a damn thing he's sung. i'm sure his voice is just as good as any 16 year old boy with some training and a voice filter...so the opinions i want to hear should be more about the branding of Bieber and the puppymill that is the teen music industry.
i've lived long enough to see how it destroys the very same people it builds, from the late seventies onward. we don't as often get the chance to see what it does to a boy though, this should be interesting.
i had a weird dream in general last night, i was on nyquil...
but the clearest memory from the dream was going to Spacesick's house, which was apparently in a large maintenence room near the top of an apartment building. the walls were covered with all sorts of old pop culture paraphenelia, band flyers, walls of toys, had several tv's playing different things, and in the middle of the room was a large shallow box full of shitloads of vintage trading cards of every possible concept (except sports). things i used to collect as a kid, and things i didn't even know existed.
and he had some doubles and i wanted some of them. and he was watching me like a hawk as i flipped through them.

most of all, i was surprised he didn't have them in archival plastic card sleeves....and just out in some box in the middle of the room.

and that's about all i remember.

...folks like me and spacesick that are trapped reliving and reinventing the 80's.
also, name me some of your favorite 80's movies you grew up on religiously, wearing out your vhs copies and memorizing all the lines and maybe i'll design one of these retro foreign style posters for it.
i'm thinking a foreign 'adventures in babysitting' one would be a hoot.

and of course they are now available in my imagekind store! :)
got a challenge for subbers who have been too worried or hesitant to submit 'art tees' to threadless when well executed joke tees are almost guaranteed win it seems. read on.

So after We've Got Some Work to do Now I said I wouldn't do any more pop joke tees here.
I'm especially timid to sub ANOTHER pac man gag tee here on the somewhat-heels of Madness of Mission Six...
but I couldn't get this idea out of my head. I think i'm done with it, though I may still work in some maze-like coral structures vaguely in the backdrop.

but as I said in the image description on my flickr profile, 'you'd be a fool to not try all your designs at Threadless first'...

Which is why I have decided that for every Joke tee, I will submit an 'art tee' at the same time. which means I won't sub this one until I sub a companion art tee design to post at around the same time.
I think this could be an interesting, if not maybe a little depressing- experiment on voter tastes (gag vs art for art's sake)- where I'm sure the art tees will suffer...but maybe they will start to creep into the voter's minds a bit more.

many of you don't have a problem with subbing art tees. I've often used Sonmi as a great example of knocking out cool colorful fine art designs fearlessly, and having luck with them. I wish I could do that. I've talked about it so much but haven't yet gotten the balls to drop a random art tee here and watch it potentially bomb or not be appreciated by the voters. But no more, with my new plan at least.

so I challenge my other threadless friends who have maybe relied on the surefire approach of clever gag tees or pop culture mash-ups to do this:
for every pop culture, joke or pun tee you sub, sub a 'art' tee with no heavy-handed, obvious meaning at the same time.

anybody with me? it may help wash the guilty ease of subbing pop joke tees, as well as start strengthening the chances for pure art and design tees.

UPDATE 3/10/10:
i have reordered and will have more in stock in a week or so, orders beyond today will be 'preorders' for the stock i have being made and sent to me right now.

i designed these weatherproof (up to 7 years) vinyl SCI-FI raygun decals in parody of the jesus and darwin fish debate.
screw science, screw religion- the only thing that usually comes true is science fiction, IMO.

i have them in black and satin silver, they are roughly 3x5 inches. the black is best on autobodies that are red or lighter, and the silver is best on autobodies that are red or darker, as well as rear windows.

they are $5 each with free shipping anywhere in the US, and $6 internationally ($1 to cover shipping)

available at my etsy shop

i was messing around with this idea... this is just a shitty photoshop concept. i could probably come up with several more vehicles and matching euphemisms.
for instance, a skateboard saying 'grind me baby', etc.

if this was drawn well, in a naive style, with hand written text and a few more objects, would it be too dirty for threadless? the suggestion is only there if you think it is. otherwise, the things are just excited about what they do and want to do it with you.

i was surprised that threadless did the shirt with the girl deepthroating a banana on it, so i guess this is fair game?

'dirty vehicles' would be the title, and not on the shirt. i think a smart person would get it without the title at all.

ATOMIC '39 - Threadless T-shirts, Nude No More

should be up for voting sometime soon...?

i just want a ray gun on a tee shirt.
it's as simple as that. so i whipped this up.
It's too modern to call it 'steampunk', it's more inspired from the old sci-fi serials and adventure flicks and comics of the 30's... still old-timey, but leaning toward the future.

at last! i found this episode on the nets. i used to tell people about it all the time and no one believed me. apparently it has struck a chord with a few other zombie aficionados already

starts innocently enough, but it totally plays like a modern rage-zombie flick. a heavy episode that pretty much changed my life.

BEHOLD! - Threadless T-shirts, Nude No More

something else i am working on with absolutely no goal except for 'i like it', and that i wanted it to be mysterious and bold, like a sci-fi novel cover.

potential titles are
'demon with a glass hand',
'BEHOLD!',
or the "meltdown/martyr/malfunction/monstrosity of mission 10"
and there is no story, it's up to the viewer- although martyr/meltdown would certainly suggest the robot sacrificed himself through overloading, and the malfunction/monstrosity would suggest something went wrong ala' HAL in 2001.

you can see a lot of the stages in my flickr

suggestions appreciated!

I think there will be a few different subs in the top 20 once all the loves threadless have finsihed scoring. Travis has to be up there somewhere, his last few subs have lifted the bar on here--------

I don't know if anyone else who's been hanging around threadless for far too long (like myself) gets really excited when under-printed designers put out a sure thing - but I know I do. I feel the same way about this as when I first saw "No Peeking" by Jublin. That "THIS is a print and it couldn't happen to a better person."
Enjoy your...uh...12 pack of Red Bull.
