I know lots of people will complain that it's obscure and needs explaining, but I think that's kinda cool. Makes for a conversation. Besides, it's generally only friends who comment on your shirt, not random strangers. |

OMG. This could be one of the best designs I've ever seen.
And on a side note I hope you know that blockbuster, means Crapsucker. Moore's work has never been translated even closely to the silverscreen, and I think The Watchmen is the least capable. I'd much rather have a 6-12hr smallscreen mini. $5 tho. anything but baby blue, preferably darker, that would be the key to a million comic nerds buying it, a shirt to rival communist party in runs. And if someone could think of a parody of the quote, Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?, to be included, perhaps on the back in the graffiti style? My ideas are Who times the Timekeepers or Who watches the clocks? |

13Strong has the lineup correct, and explaining the characters would take a while, and then relating that to their positioning here would give away some of the major plot points, so we'll let you read the book. As far as copyrights, I was thinking about that while I was making it and really, the only thing that could present a problem (that I know of) is the Rorschach watch face, so I could change that more if necessary. All the other symbols are in wide use by a variety of companies/organizations. |

I wouldn't worry about the Rorschach watchface - his face changes all the time in the book, so they'd have a hard time coming after you for that. I mean, they're basically random (?) black blobs - not sure you could copyright such a thing.
I'm sure this could be covered under parody or something. |

I just finished the comic today. Had it sitting around for over a year, and when I heard they were making it into a movie I figured I might as well finish it.
*****SPOILER ALERT****** I may be wrong, but I think it refers to their deaths? The Comedian got "knocked out" by Ozymandias, as did Rorschach by Dr. Manhattan. And then Nite Owl and Silk Spectre are leaning on each other. Am I right? |

There is a lot of symbolism here. If you've read it you'll get what I'm talking about without me going into too much detail. I'll just go over a couple major ones. (WarSux has a couple) First we have Comedian being toppled over by Ozy which is also the start of our story. Comedian's watch is down and broken, symbol of his fall and death. Then another big placement symbol is Nite-Owl, Silk Spectre, and Dr. Manhattan. Spectre is caught between them leaning away from Dr. Manhattan and towards Nite-Owl as happens in the story. She leaves the one for the other. Then the final two watches are like the final chapter of the story. Dr. Manhattan and Rorschach sit on different sides of a moral/ethical conflict and decision. They are against eachother and its clear that Dr. Manhattan easily has the upper hand and his placement will easily take down Rorschach. Dr.'s face is looking straight forward and ahead. Rorschach is looking down and falling. These are the major placement symbols I tried to work in, there are other little subtle things in there. I'll let you find and then of course the design of each watch carries a variety of connections to the characters. Thanks for all the emails and nice letters! |

Helluva design in tribute to a helluva book! Vertical would be most appropriate since the covers title was vertical, and I think a slightly darker (more Manhattan) blue would be best. And yes, Ozy's has to be at 11:55, that would complete the shirt to a Tee (hah)! $5!!!! Could you resubmit a little closer to the movie's release, I bet it'd get a print then. Amazing work again!

About my design
This is a pun based joke on the name "Watchmen." Each of these watches represents one of the book's main characters. They are also symbolically placed, again with allusion to the storyline.
If none of that matters- then hey, its a design with some cool watches!
