I can't speak for everyone, but I only want to see Calvin & Hobbes if they're drawn by Bill Waterson. You can speak for me, at least. I see no parody here, even. Unless the statement being made is "wow, Calvin looks horrible as an anime character" |

FRICKINAWESOME on May 06 '09 I think people are giving this drawing way too much flack. It's a fun real-world styling of calvin and hobbes. I love how calvin looks, but i'm not as much into the completely differently-styled hobbes character. Draw him in the reality of the tiger, and I'll really dig this. And at least he isn't pissing on something.

wait wait wait,
this is heracy!!! the last line in the last comic of "Calvin and Hobbes" is "Let's go Exploring!" not "Lets go Explore!" also, it's cute and people would love it... HOWEVER, Bill Watterson is a purist against merchandising and this is like slapping him in the face if it is printed. I'd hardly think that threadless would print it anyway, the only pop-culture character that I can see is the black-caped motorcyclist gardener, and that is borderline. |
