DaddyDom

About my design

by DaddyDom
This was first written at the time of the death of Hafez Assad. I was reminded of it upon the passing of Yasser Arafat. It's basically a plea to the new regimes to abandon the ignorance that has reigned for thousands of years. It is also a plea to the rest of us, especially the youth, because, we all live in our own ignorances, but there is still time to find truth. Sorry for the novel, but I'm not sure if this piece would be something y'all would wear, so this might be the only time you see it, and I wanted to make it as clear as possible. I'd love to hear your thoughts/opinions on this.

Print - font and style fits well with the statement...

sort of home made stencil over it.

I think the baby blue shirt kinda kills the feeling I think you were going for......
thechamplin
thechamplin on May 01 '05
i like the idea, but im afraid its lost on a tshirt.

theres too much text :-\

i agree the baby blue kind of cheers up the shirt too much.

again, i like the idea and all.

no one is going to stare at my boobs that long trying to read that while not feeling awkward, sorry.
DaddyDom
DaddyDom on May 02 '05
Yeah, I knew it wouldn't work as a tee, per se. But, 78 people have seen it, maybe half of them even read it. So, it's done something other than sit in my head.

Regarding the blue shirt. I can see your point, but I will say, it's actually a very positive message. Oh well, people ain't gonna be wearing it anyways and I don't think a red or black shirt would've saved it.

Regarding chimbleysweep, I wouldn't feel awkward about staring at your boobs. If you where a shirt with that much text, I'd figure your inviting it!

Thanks kids.

If you kept the image, and picked 2-3 of your favorite lines and just put those on (with larger font, obviously) you might have a winner.

Good print design, but not tshirt. Too complex.

Correction to chimbleysweep. WEAR a shirt like that. I'm lame.

Thanks again,

I personally like it, only thing I think should change is the shirt color. Mabey black or grey?
Poonanny
Poonanny on May 03 '05
Great, the front of a t-shirt is probably the last place that someone can state an interesting message and expect it to be read by people that need it.

Its unfortunate that it's too long, you need to fast-food it for the ADD masses, maybe just have the fist, juxtaposed with a really inappropriate word like 'cuddles' or 'lovely'
DaddyDom
DaddyDom on May 03 '05
Yeah, the back would work better. I suppose if they wanted it, it'd be easy to switch to the back. I'm pleasantly surprised that this made it past the 2 day mark. It's probably 1.51, but whatever it takes, you dig?

I had about 4 different color combos originally, but had difficulty creating the gif at proper size without having the colors get all f-ed up.

Pistola on May 03 '05
I really like the idea and composition of it, I'd definetly want something like this if I were a guy. Unfortunatly, I get enough trouble from people staring at my chest when there aren't any words on it.
love boat captain
love boat captain on May 03 '05
if it were on the back, i think it would be a winner, just to repeat what the masses have said!

i love the text...one of my favorite things i've ever read. thanks for sharing it
chaosx
chaosx on May 03 '05
I would love this if it were in black. I would make hot, sexy love to it.
CristaSh
CristaSh on May 03 '05
This is a brilliant design. i would prefer the text as it currently is, that way people will be curious and perhaps even ask what is written upon the chest. This would possibly result in fascinating /vulgar/stupid conversations...all of them worthwhile.

whatever, i like your design.
Bathsheba

Too like...youth for socialist action-y.

And I don't think anyone would bother to read all of it.
DaddyDom
DaddyDom on May 04 '05
Hey Pistola, never be afraid of your boobs. There is great power in your boobs.

Hey love boat, you don't have to write nice things to get me to help you move.

Hey Chaosx, if for some reason they print this shirt..., on black, you have to submit a picture of your love session.

Hey CristaSh, I like the way you think. Encouraging human interaction is rarely bad, no matter where it goes.

Hey Bathsheba, did YOU read all of it? I understand your point, though, but some people probably would, and then you'd have to talk to them. So sad.

I love you all,

KEMMLER
KEMMLER on May 05 '05
like the message, design is questionable, but props anyway.
DaddyDom
DaddyDom on May 05 '05
st. jude, I was wondering if anyone was going to ask about that. All I can say is, if it's good enough for Webster's, it's good enough for me!

redsandll6, I appreciate your honesty. See the earlier posts regarding people reading your shirt. To each their own. Oh, also, regarding American Idiot, I just checked out the cover of that online (if you don't believe my ignorance of it, ask love boat captain) and if being poorly drawn, and involving a hand, arm, and the color red equates to "looking like", then I agree with you.

Kemmler, the message is the important thing, thanks for the love.

I love your moms,

I am utterly impressed. The first shirt i've seen in submissions that I know I would wear. I don't care what they say. It works not only as an active message, but also as a design. I'm afraid though that because of the amount of text the message would be lost and people would only concentrate on the fist behind it.
sonneta
sonneta on May 05 '05
Great design. Enlarge it and place it on the back. You could have a short line in the center on the front read something like, "You are the new power." Then people could stare at the back of the shirt for the rest of the message. Great work!
sonneta
sonneta on May 05 '05
Oh yeah, and black, white, or grey would be a better shirt color.
littlem
littlem on May 05 '05
I like it! I do agree with the 'back' placement of the message. Especially good for reading while, say, waiting in line at: the post office, Disneyland, Starbucks, Best Buy at Christmas time, the grocery store on Thanksgiving day, the opening night of any Star Wars movie, etc etc.

p.s. I think Don King would be jealous that he's never used the word uniquity.

DaddyDom
DaddyDom on May 05 '05
Don King can't use it because it's a real word. Real words aren't in his contract.
DaddyDom
DaddyDom on May 06 '05
Actually, maybe it's a real word now because Don King used it. Hmmm, chicken or the egg?
littlem
littlem on May 06 '05
I think part of the fun of choosing a t-shirt is to have people notice it. How can you buy a shirt with words on it and Not want people to read it, whether it's One word or Many? This site is for buying t-shirts that people want to LOOK at, eh?? fun fun fun

congrats on a design that has sparked a bit of discussion...a great feat these days
akaufman
akaufman on May 06 '05
My issue is that I think for being revolutionary, I think it's inherently sexist to say "your fathers."
DaddyDom
DaddyDom on May 06 '05
mdudlik, better to be preachy and pretentious then to sit back, get stoned and watch it all fall apart.

akaufman, I dig what you're saying, but, if you take a look at the first post, you'd see that it was directed specifically to a son (Bashar Assad) who was taking control after the death of his father. To further the point, this piece is aimed towards the world leadership in word, and to all people in spirit. Now, I want you to write a list and post it of all of the female heads of state. Then, write a list of all of the male heads of state. Write those same lists for the previous 3 generations. While "fathers" may not be politically correct, it is the overwhelming truth. Never sacrifice truth to be politically correct.
